Looking Beyond Term Life Insurance?

Not Sure How Much Coverage You Actually Need?

Use Our DIME Calculator to Get a Clear Picture

Before comparing prices, you need to know the right coverage amount for your family's situation. The DIME Method calculates based on four key factors:

D
Debt

Car loans, credit cards, other debts

I
Income

Years of income replacement needed

M
Mortgage

Remaining balance

E
Education

College costs for children

10 years

How long would your family rely on your paycheck if you weren’t here? Many people choose the years until their youngest child is on their own, or until they planned to retire.

Based on your inputs, your family would need approximately:

$0

This is a starting point. The right coverage amount depends on your income, debts, and what you want protected — something we review together during your consultation. It doesn’t account for existing coverage or savings, and it is not a recommendation or quote.

For educational purposes only. Results are an estimate based on the information you enter and the DIME method, and are not a quote, recommendation, or offer of coverage. Actual coverage needs depend on your full financial picture, and coverage availability, amounts, and rates depend on underwriting and carrier guidelines. This tool does not provide tax, legal, or financial advice.

Term Life Insurance Strategy

Not All Term Insurance
Is the Same.

Two policies at the same price can be completely different products. Features, flexibility, underwriting, and long-term value vary widely — and most people never see the difference until it's too late.

Did You Know?

A $1,000,000 policy can sometimes cost the same —
or even less — than a $900,000 policy.

Carriers price coverage in tiers. Crossing into the next tier can lower your cost per dollar of coverage. Most people never know to ask — and most online tools never surface this.

What Separates a Good Policy
From the Right One

Features, options, and strategies most online platforms never show you.

Living Benefits Terminal Sometimes Free

Access a portion of your benefit while alive if diagnosed with terminal, chronic, or critical illness. Some carriers include terminal coverage at no extra cost. Most people never know to ask.

Coverage That Adjusts With Life

Certain carriers let you reduce coverage after year one as your mortgage shrinks and your kids grow up — no new policy, no new underwriting required.

Laddering & Layering Strategies

If adjustable coverage isn't the right fit, stacking policies of different term lengths can achieve a similar result — matching coverage to actual need over time.

Conversion Rights

Convert your term to permanent with no new medical exam — regardless of health changes. Not all policies include this, and what you convert to matters just as much.

Features Beyond Price

Waiver of premium, spouse riders, children's riders, guaranteed insurability, accidental death, return of premium. Most carriers don't offer all of these.

Same Person, Different Rates

Build, nicotine, medications, family history — carrier rules vary widely. The same applicant can get preferred at one carrier and standard at another — hundreds of dollars a year apart.

SBA & Business Assignments

Term policies can be assigned as collateral for SBA loans and business financing. Carrier speed and paperwork handling matter — the wrong choice can delay your funding.

Instant & No-Exam Options

Instant approval, accelerated underwriting, and no-exam paths available for qualified applicants. We identify your path before you apply — no guessing, no wasted time.

You Have Options. We Show You All of Them — Before You Apply.

Most platforms route you to one algorithm at a time. Most agents work with a limited carrier set. We combine 20+ top-rated carriers with pre-underwriting technology that identifies your best options — before a single application is filed.

The Right Policy Isn't the Cheapest Quote.
It's the Best Fit for You.

Beyond Term Life Insurance

Life Insurance for Your Business & Your Wealth

Most business owners start with term. But loans, partners, key people, and long-term wealth planning often call for something more specific. Here’s how life insurance can work beyond the basics.

Business owners reviewing loan and insurance documents
SBA & Commercial Loans

Need Life Insurance to Close Your Loan?

SBA and commercial lenders often require life insurance on the owners or key people, assigned to the lender as collateral. Term is usually the right fit. What matters most is choosing a carrier that issues quickly and handles the assignment paperwork, so your coverage doesn’t hold up your funding.

  • Instant decisions available for qualified applicants
  • Collateral assignment coordinated with your lender
  • Large and complex cases welcome
For Business Owners

Protecting the Business

Your company depends on people. These strategies keep it running, and keep ownership where it belongs, if something happens to one of them.

Key Person Insurance

Protects the business if an owner or essential employee dies, helping cover lost revenue, recruiting costs, and lender confidence while the company adjusts.

Buy-Sell Agreement Funding

Provides the cash to buy out a partner’s share if they die, so the remaining owners keep control and the family receives fair value. Term or permanent, depending on the plan.

Executive Bonus & Split-Dollar

Uses permanent life insurance to reward and retain key employees. These plans can offer valuable benefits, and their tax treatment depends on how they’re structured.

For Individuals, Families & Business Owners

Whole Life & Permanent Coverage

Lifetime coverage for individuals, families, and business owners, for legacy, estate planning, and long-term financial strategy. Use it on its own or alongside term.

Whole Life

Lifetime coverage with guaranteed cash value growth and potential dividends from mutual carriers. Often used for legacy, business continuity, and conservative long-term planning.

Dividends are not guaranteed.

Guaranteed Universal Life

Lifetime death benefit, often at a lower cost than whole life, for people who want permanent coverage without a focus on cash value.

Single Premium Life

One payment moves existing assets into a life insurance policy, often used for estate and legacy planning or to create a larger inheritance.

Usually a modified endowment contract (MEC), which affects how withdrawals and loans are taxed.

Premium Financing

A lender pays the premiums on a large policy so you can keep your capital invested. Typically for high-net-worth individuals and businesses.

Involves risk: interest rates can rise, collateral may be required, and policy performance can vary.

Term + Permanent: The Best of Both

Many clients pair affordable term coverage for their working and family-raising years with a smaller permanent policy that lasts for life. You get high protection now and lifelong coverage for final expenses, legacy, or estate needs, often at a lower total cost than all permanent.

Not Sure Which Fits? Let’s Review Your Goals.

Whether it’s a loan requirement, a partner agreement, or a long-term plan, one conversation shows you which options make sense, and which don’t.

For educational purposes only; not tax, legal, or financial advice. Consult your CPA or attorney about the tax and legal treatment of any business or wealth planning strategy. Lender insurance requirements vary. Coverage availability, guarantees, and features depend on the carrier, policy, state, and underwriting; guarantees are based on the claims-paying ability of the issuing insurer. Premium financing involves risks, including interest rate changes, collateral requirements, and policy performance, and is not suitable for everyone.

Frequently Asked Questions

About 10 minutes. We ask targeted questions about your coverage needs and health profile, then show you real-time carrier options and approval probabilities. If you have complex health history, it might take 20 minutes. Same time as filling out online forms, but you get professional guidance.
Yes. Because loan closings are time-sensitive, it’s best to call our team directly. Many SBA and commercial lenders require life insurance on the owners or key people, assigned to the lender as collateral. We help you choose a carrier that can issue quickly and coordinate the collateral assignment with your lender, so your coverage doesn’t hold up your funding.

Call us at 866-812-4777, or visit our Business Loan Protection page.
Term covers you for a set period, like 10, 20, or 30 years, and is usually the lowest-cost way to get a large amount of coverage. Permanent life insurance, such as whole life or guaranteed universal life, is designed to last your lifetime, and some types build cash value. Term often fits loans, income protection, and raising a family. Permanent is often used for estate planning, business continuity, and leaving a legacy. Many people use a mix of both.
Yes. We help business owners use life insurance to protect the company if an owner or key employee dies. That includes key person coverage, buy-sell agreement funding, and executive benefit plans such as executive bonus and split-dollar arrangements. Learn more about key person insurance and buy-sell agreement insurance, or call us at 866-812-4777. We recommend involving your CPA or attorney, since tax and legal treatment depends on how the plan is set up.
Premium financing means a lender pays the premiums on a large life insurance policy, so you can keep your own money invested. It’s typically used by high-net-worth individuals and businesses that need a large amount of permanent coverage. It isn’t right for everyone: interest rates can rise, the lender may require collateral, and policy performance can vary. We’ll walk through whether it makes sense for your situation, alongside your financial and tax advisors.
Often, yes. Many term policies include a conversion option that lets you switch to permanent coverage without a new medical exam, even if your health has changed. Conversion rules, deadlines, and the permanent policies you can convert to vary by carrier, so it’s worth comparing before you buy, and reviewing before your conversion window closes.
No. Our consultation is completely free with no obligation. We're paid by the insurance carriers, not by you. You only move forward if you find an option that makes sense.
Online quotes show generic pricing. We show you which carriers will actually approve you, your probability of approval with each, and which underwriting process (instant, accelerated, or traditional) you qualify for. You see ALL your options before applying to any carrier.
That's exactly when professional guidance matters most. We know which carriers specialize in specific conditions and how to position your application for the best outcome. Many clients who were declined elsewhere get approved through our process.
Yes, for qualified applicants. If you qualify for instant underwriting, many approvals happen during our first call, and coverage can begin the same day. If accelerated underwriting is the best fit, approval is often within a few days and frequently requires no medical exam. Some cases are approved instantly, while others may take longer depending on underwriting review — which we can usually see upfront. If traditional underwriting is required, a medical exam and full review are involved, and approval typically takes 2–6 weeks.
We have access to top-rated carriers through our independent brokerage partnerships and direct relationships. This gives you more options than any single-carrier platform or captive agent.
No. There’s no cost to you to work with me, and I’m paid by the carrier only if you choose a policy. My job is showing you your options; yours is deciding if and when to move forward.
Perfect – that's exactly when our approach matters most. One carrier's decline doesn't mean you're uninsurable. We'll find carriers that specialize in your situation.
You can try. But you'll only see one carrier's decision at a time. Our approach shows you every option upfront so you apply to the RIGHT carrier from the start. Same time, better outcome.
Just basic info: age, coverage amount you're considering, general health status. We'll guide you through the rest.
Never. This isn't a lead generation site. You're talking directly with a licensed professional. No call centers. No information resale.
  • Instant: Approval in minutes, same-day coverage, no exam (up to $5M for qualified applicants)
  • Accelerated: Fast-track approval — often within a few days. Often no medical exam required. Some cases approved instantly, while others may take longer depending on underwriting review, which we can see upfront.
  • Traditional: Exam required, 2-6 weeks, highest coverage amounts available
We'll identify which you qualify for during our call.
When you request a quote or schedule a consultation, we’ll reach out to confirm your information and collect anything else needed. You can also let us know the best time to reach you, or call us anytime. We don’t submit your application to the insurance company until you’ve officially signed it.
It depends on the policy. A no exam insurance policy can usually be put in force within 24 hours, and in some cases even sooner. For other types of policies, it might take a week or two. If a medical exam is required, it could take two to six weeks, depending on how quickly the insurance company can get your medical records. Our team can give you an estimated timeline for approval.
Of course. The policy doesn't go into full effect until you officially accept it. You can refuse the policy during the "free look" period, which varies by state (often 10 to 30 days). You can lower the amount of your coverage, make the term shorter, or cancel your policy at any time while it's in effect. But as long as you've been honest on the application, the insurance company can't change the terms of your policy.
You don't have to pay anything until the policy has been issued and you've accepted it. The exact time frame depends on whether you've requested that the insurance company bill you or you've set up automatic payments from your bank account or credit card.
Generally, no. Applying for life insurance generally doesn’t affect your credit score.
No. The insurance company sets the price for the policy, and the price doesn't change whether you buy directly from them or use an agent. The advantage of using us is that we're independent, so we can compare top-rated carriers to find a strong product at a competitive price. And there are downsides to buying directly from an insurance company. You'll be dealing with an agent who works on behalf of the company, rather than you.
Greg O'Rourke is an independent licensed insurance agent. I don't issue insurance policies or collect payments for premiums — that's the job of the insurance company. I work as your agent to make the process as easy as possible and obtain the best coverage for your needs. Insurance companies can sell you life insurance, but they'll only tell you about their products. I represent many different insurance companies, so I can shop around and find the coverage that's best for you.
No. We're compensated by the insurance company after you've been approved and have accepted the policy.
